Baroota Reservoir

Baroota Reservoir

Completed in 1921, the Baroota Reservoir was built to supply additional water to Port Pirie and other northern parts of the Beetaloo distribution system. Originally one of the primary water sources for the northern Spencer Gulf, today Baroota reservoir is an offline reservoir only, no longer supplying drinking water. Its maintained only as an emergency water source in the unlikely event of a major failure of the Morgan-Whyalla pipeline.

The dam is on Baroota Creek to the north-east of Port Germein.
