Commercial water prices

Commercial water prices

Commercial properties include retail trade (shops, shopping centres, department stores and general stores) and wholesale trade (distributors and warehouses where goods are purchased and stored in large quantities, then on-sold to retailers or sellers.)

Your water charges are made up of two parts:

  1. A fixed charge for water supply
  2. A variable charge for water use - the more you use, the more you pay

Water supply charge

The 2019-20 water supply charge for commercial customers is based on your property value. The quarterly rate in the dollar applied to commercial customers is $0.17125 per $1000 of property value, with a minimum charge of $75.40 per quarter.

Water use price

The 2019-20 water use price for commercial customers is $3.413/kL (or $0.003413 per litre).

Reduced prices for water and sewerage services are also lowering the cost of business in South Australia.

All businesses will benefit from a reduction of around 18 per cent for water use prices.

The standard annual water access charge is also reducing by 10 per cent, from $301.60 to $271.40. Commercial customers will also benefit from changes in the way their water access is charged. From 1 July 2020, most commercial customers will be charged the standard access charge for each connection.

Minimum sewerage charges will decrease by 10 per cent, with property-based sewerage charges for business customers also reducing, on average by around 10 per cent. Property rates will be set later this month to take account of  the 2020-21 property values released by the Valuer General’s Office.

The 2020-21 water and sewer prices for our business customers are:
